Even people who don’t mind getting older would prefer not to look haggard or gaunt as they age. Volume loss is one of the most common causes of facial aging, deep creases and wrinkles, and sagging skin. Collagen production also begins to slow as we age, contributing to an aged or hollow appearance.

Sculptra® is a new take on dermal fillers: in addition to restoring lost volume, this filler reverses certain signs of aging by stimulating collagen production within the facial tissues, resulting in rejuvenated, tightened, and glowing skin for up to two years. Capitis Medical & Aesthetics is proud to offer Sculptra® injections at both our San Diego and Roseville, CA, offices.

What Is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is the first FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA) facial injectable that is proven to improve the structure of the skin by stimulating collagen production. Unlike other dermal fillers that fill in deep creases and primarily increase volume, Sculptra® contains microparticles of PLLA-SCA, which helps rebuild skin structure for lasting results.

What Are the Benefits of Sculptra®?

Sculptra® injections provide long-term results for patients who are experiencing a loss of volume and elasticity due to the aging process. Sculptra® is also approved for a variety of treatment areas, including the face, the chest or decollete area, and the buttocks. Other benefits of Sculptra® include:

  • Minimally invasive, with little downtime and recovery
  • Results can last up to two years
  • Improves skin health and bounce
  • Repairs damaged skin
  • Induces collagen for rejuvenated skin
  • Restores lost volume
  • Results improve over time

Sculptra® injections not only provide external aesthetic improvements, but they actually repair the skin from within by promoting more collagen in the body, resulting in natural-looking results.

How Can I Combine Sculptra® with Other Non-Surgical Treatments?

Sculptra® injections are minimally invasive, meaning there is little downtime or recovery. Your aesthetic provider can help you create a custom treatment plan that incorporates multiple procedures to get you the results you want. Some popular non-surgical treatments that pair well with Sculptra® include:

Hydrafacial®

While Sculptra® rejuvenates the skin and tissues at the cellular level, it can be beneficial to treat the skin’s surface with a nourishing Hydrafacial®. This hydrating facial uses a three-part system to cleanse and exfoliate, gently remove impurities, and replace lost nutrients with personalized topical serums. A Hydrafacial® can create a good foundation for healthy skin and is a great treatment to combine with the tissue-repairing Sculptra® injections.

Lip Injections

Volume loss can affect the face in many areas, including the lips. Whether you have lost volume due to aging or you want to reshape the lips for a more pleasing pout, lip injections are a minimally invasive procedure that can provide stunning results.

How Are Sculptra® Treatments Performed?

Sculptra® injections are in-office procedures performed at our San Diego and Roseville locations. Your expert injector will prepare your skin in the target location by cleansing it of any cosmetics or lotions. You may be given a topical anesthetic (numbing cream) to eliminate any pain or discomfort. Next, they will inject the treatment area with a pre-determined amount of the Sculptra® filler until they are satisfied with the results.

You may be given a cold compress to reduce swelling, and then you’ll be finished with treatment.

How Much Do Sculptra® Treatments Cost?

The cost of Sculptra® injections in San Diego will vary depending on the size of the treatment area, the volume of the injections, and the number of treatment sessions. Once your Sculptra® provider has created a personalized treatment plan for you, they can provide you with an accurate cost estimate.

How Long Is Sculptra® Recovery?

One of the benefits of Sculptra® injections is that there is no downtime required; You’ll be able to return to your normal activities immediately after treatment.

Most patients will experience a short recovery period, as the treatment area may be slightly red, swollen, or bruised. Redness and swelling should dissipate within a few hours, while bruising may take a few days to get better.

When Will I See the Results of Sculptra® Treatments?

Sculptra® works by inducing collagen production within the tissues of the treatment area, which can take a few weeks to build up in the body. Most patients will be able to see improvement over the course of a few weeks to about one month as collagen becomes more prominent.

Sculptra® Frequently Asked Questions

How many Sculptra® treatments will I need for ideal results?

Most patients need more than one treatment to see ideal results, but this will vary from person to person. Your Sculptra® injector can give you a good idea of how many treatments will be necessary to see your results.

How long does Sculptra® last?

Sculptra® is one of the longest-lasting dermal fillers on the market, and it has shown visible results for up to two years in some patients.

How do I know which dermal filler is best for me?

The best way to determine which filler is best for you is to schedule a consultation at one of our offices so we can give you an expert opinion based on your goals, skin quality, and treatment areas.

We may recommend Sculptra® if your concerns are primarily age-related and you want a more natural-looking result, as this filler actually restores old and damaged tissues through boosted collagen. However, if you are more interested in a faster volume restoration treatment, another dermal filler may be more appropriate.
